Southland Smiles is a full service general dental practice. Because of our strong commitment to continuing education we can offer you a wide range of dental care. Some of the services we provide are:
- Invisalign Invisible Orthodontics
Now there is a way to quickly move teeth into a more ideal position without traditional Braces. Invisalign Orthodontics can change your crooked smile into the Smile of Your Dreams more comfortably and without that "braces" smile during treatment. - Tooth Whitening/Bleaching
Whether it’s from the ravages of time or just naturally dark teeth, safe and conservative tooth whitening is the simplest way to improve your smile. - Bad Breath Treatment
Brushing and flossing alone may not prevent bad breath. We have a specific treatment remedy that you can follow to cure and prevent bad breath. See our Newsletter for details. - Porcelain Veneers
Veneers can take poorly shaped, out of position teeth and produce instant orthodontics and a dazzling smile. Of all the materials in dentistry, porcelain veneers look and feel the most like tooth enamel. - Cosmetic Bonding
If you have gaps, stained or chipped teeth, cosmetic bonding might be the option for you. Cosmetic bonding can be a quick and simple way to restore a healthy attractive appearance. - White Composite Fillings
Silver amalgam fillings were the mainstay of restorative dentistry. The introduction of composite resin and bonding in the 1960’s revolutionized dentistry. A more conservative preparation design allows for the removal of less tooth structure and bonding helps reinforce the tooth. Say good-bye to metal mouth and have a healthier looking smile at the same time.

- Implants
Dental implants are the most natural way to replace missing teeth. An implant is an anchor onto which crowns, bridges, partial and full dentures can be attached. Implants are secure and durable and can be cared for much like your natural teeth. - Crowns
Crowns are placed on teeth when there is not enough tooth structure to support a filling. A crown is a new outer covering for a tooth and protects the tooth from normal chewing forces. A crown may also be needed to:- Restore a broken tooth
- Cover a badly shaped or discolored tooth
- Attach bridgework
- Restore an implant
- Bridges
A bridge replaces a limited number of missing teeth with permanently anchored false teeth. The ends of the bridge are crowns that are cemented over prepared natural teeth in front and behind the space. The anchoring teeth must be strong and have good periodontal health to support the extra load of false teeth. - Dentures
Today’s aesthetic dentures restore a natural appearance and provide healthy function. Do you already have dentures? Ask about an implant secured snap in place lower full denture. The stability and security will remind you of your natural teeth! - Periodontal Therapy
We take a pro-active approach to the health of your gums and bone support. Healthy gums not only protect against periodontal disease and tooth decay, but also prevent bacteria from entering the blood stream. Periodontal disease has been linked to coronary heart disease. Conservative periodontal scaling and root planing followed by good preventive home care helps control most cases of periodontal disease. See our Newsletter for more information. - TMJ Treatment
Do you experience clicking or popping in the jaw joints? Do you have headaches, sore face muscles, neck or back pain, or sensitive teeth? These are all symptoms of TMJ and/or clenching and grinding. Most of the time these symptoms can be controlled or eliminated by an NTI tension suppression guard. Much smaller and more effective than a standard night guard, this simple device has helped many of our patients rid themselves of headaches, sore jaws and sensitive teeth. See our Newsletter for more information. - Root Canal
If a tooth’s nerve is exposed from a fracture or from decay the nerve needs to be removed to prevent infection. A root canal is the removal of a tooth’s nerve. The solid portion of the tooth and root remain after a root canal is completed. The only option other than a root canal is tooth extraction. If needed, save your tooth with this procedure. Root canals can be done simply and painlessly usually in just one visit. Following a root canal a post/core and crown are often recommended to restore the strength of the tooth. - Extractions
An extraction may be necessary if a tooth is decayed or broken beyond repair. Extractions may be suggested prior to braces if there isn’t enough room to straighten all the teeth. Also, impacted teeth may need extraction. We do simple extractions with local anesthetic.
