Your dentists, Dr. Richard Mantoan, strongly encourages you to floss your teeth at least once a day. Unfortunately, there are things you can do to botch your flossing routine. This makes flossing unbeneficial. This is why it’s important to have an effective and proper flossing technique. To help you have the technique you need, our dental team has some tips for you, which are:

-Remove about 18 inches of floss from the flossing container. Then, wrap most of the floss around your two middle fingers. Leave about 2 inches of floss between them.

-Use your thumbs or index fingers to press the 2 inches of floss between the crevice of your teeth. Be careful not to snap the floss into place. Snapping the floss can injure the gums.

-Scrape the sides of the teeth with the floss. It’s also important to floss the gumline. Make sure to remove the plaque and food particles that reside in those places.

-To pull the floss from between the teeth, just move the floss back and forth and gently remove the floss from the crevice.

-Use a clean section of floss each time you clean a new space in the smile.
